I’m sharing 3 trending design features today, seen during my recent Highpoint Market, that might be just the perfect smaller touch for your home.
These aren’t big, super imapactful items, but if strategically placed, might be just the right way to give your home a little trendy update.
Scallops or wavy edges
Scallops or waves were everywhere this market, on trays, lampshades, upholstered furniture, etc. To me, it adds a bit of a feminine touch.
I probably wouldn’t go overboard with the scallops in my home, as I think this could be a trend that will go by the wayside in a few years, but it could be fun in a decorative item.
Come and see a few I noticed.
A pretty scalloped bed at Chelsea House.
I loved seeing this scalloped edge wicker valance from Mainly Baskets. What a cute window topper for a girl’s room or any other feminine space.
Scalloped lampshades were seen everywhere there were lamps. :-)
A unique shape on this lampshade from Regina Andrew with the scallops / pleats creates an interesting look. This might be all the trend that you want.
This tiny lamp from Regina Andrew is a new intro. With the scalloped edge, it can update a bookshelf or maybe even a kitchen countertop corner.
Check out the scalloped trim on that lumbar pillow above. That’s a cute way to add in a trendy feature.
Love these wood bowls with the scalloped, tapered edge. These were gorgeous!
Long Skinny End Tables
I am happy to see so many of these showing up at market. I’ve looked for this sort of tiny table before, something long and thin that can be tucked at the end of a sofa and had trouble finding what I wanted.
I noticed many tiny round or square tables at a past market, just little small dots of tables really, but I hadn’t seen these oblong ones so much before. I think these are just the perfect size to use for a drink or to rest your phone.
Sometimes is hard to squeeze in an end table at the end of a sofa. Something extra long and thin can really fill that void and be just the size you need.
I found some nice choices!
A new two-tier end table from Charleston Forge made a debut this market.
Another table from Charleston Forge. I love the long length here, to truly fit the depth of a sofa better.
This unique two tier, organic shaped table could be really handy at the end of sofa, from Modern History.
Hickory Chair had this end table. Although wider at the back, it has that modern, capsule shape and tapers in width at the front. A statement piece on its own.
A 3 tier end table with traditional details and that oblong shape from Hickory Chair.
Burl Wood
Burl wood is a classic and I’m happy to see it resurge on the market. I noticed it more a few markets ago and reported on it as a trend in my Jan 2023 trends post. Seeing it hold on is proof this wood finish will be lasting.
I think burl wood is a great transitional look that can fit into traditional or modern styles and can help bridge the gap between the two.
Burl wood accessories in the Shoppe Object space in Market Square have an artful aesthetic.
Burl wood candle holders from Jamie Young.
This gray burl wood finish has a unique look, from Villa and House. It almost has a light lavender look to the color.
In case you missed it, my review of the overall design aesthetic that prevailed at market this season is included below!
