I know I talked about white and showed a lot of neutral color in my images from Highpoint Market 2021. Well, that’s because the color was a little lacking.
However, I need a color fix after all that neutral loving and I’m sure you do too.
I also spotted some more unusual items that you might be interested in seeing, so I’m sharing these today too.
It’s a picture fest! So scroll away!
First, let’s do color.
My favorite showroom for color was Highland House. I love their walls, they’re all muted soft colors that make the upholstery and furniture stand out so beautifully.
Let me tell you, we gasped when we saw this bed.
It was truly stunning, with the light filtering in through the windows. That fresh citrine color was bright and oh-so appealing.
I love the fact that there really isn’t that much color here. It’s really just some edge banding and a graphic pattern on the bench, however it comes across as a yellow bed, doesn’t it?
That’s the beauty about working with whites and neutrals, sometimes you only need a touch of color to make a colorful impact.
And here was the white round table in the room, with a centerpiece of flowers that picked up a bit of the yellow. So fresh and pretty!
Chelsea House has a lot of color. Most of their pieces are a fresh, bright traditional look. These painted pieces are a bit more clean lined.
Hooker Furniture’s Melange brand did this fun bar cabinet. Love the bold color inside.
Woodbridge Furniture did a “Rainbow Room” where they promoted their custom color program. Basically you can paint many of their wood finishes in a color of your choice.
These lively custom lamp shades made a colorful stop on my tour.
Beautiful wallpaper from Jill Seale made for a bright moment in the Red Egg showroom house. I love the marbleized looks.
Also in Red Egg, these fun throws and pillow covers.
I have never color blocked bookshelves, but I do like this trend. These books from Go Home Ltd, with their statement covers, would make it fun.
This colorful print on an ottoman from CR Laine caught my eye. It’s like folk art, no?
Some bold greens turned up in CR Laine, but really only here in this vignette.
A lovely green leather at Wesley Hall with that pretty blush wallpaper as the backdrop. Now that green is definitely 2021!
Lastly, in terms of color, I saw one room at Wesley Hall that felt a little “grand-millennial style” with a terracotta color scheme. I thought I’d see more of that style, but this was it, really. Maybe more at next market?
Unusual Finds at Highpoint Market 2021
I tagged along with some other design friends to the Texture showroom, that sells only cash and carry. You can’t order these. Really, they are all pretty much one of a kind, rustic items. Those wood bead strings were about 6’-8’ long!
It’s such a cool showroom. I want to go and take a truck!
So, on to a few one-off items that I thought were cool.
This sculptural small chair from Century would make such a cool statement in a special place. I’m thinking a stairwell, all painted in white. :-)
Having two mothers in assisted living situations, I can so appreciate this unique table from Woodbridge that was made for puzzling in a senior living center. It can be used sitting or standing.
The angle works well so that you don’t have to lean over the table to see the pieces. It was covered in a felted type fabric so that it gripped the pieces nicely. It was in such a nice furniture finish, really a lovely addition.
I can see this type of table being useful for other craft type projects.
These sculptures were at the Currey and Co showroom. I saw a few of them in Dallas during summer market there, but in a large grouping, they really make a statement. Rather whimsical, no?
Check out these little butterfly ottomans from John Richard. So cute! Maybe we’ll see a bunch of new intros next year with uniquely shaped ottomans. :-)
That’s it for Highpoint Market 2021! You can tell I was quite excited to be back and share it all with you.
Here’s the whole batch of HPMKT posts, below. :-)

We’re all up to date with the major furniture and interior design trends from my previous two posts, so today, I’m sharing what I’m calling “Micro Trends”. :-)
These are things I saw that weren’t everywhere, but repeated enough in different vendor showrooms to make note of and remember to watch for at the next market to see if they expand and take hold.
