I always love to do a post after I attend markets that shares unique finds that, well, now that I’ve seen them, I think I really need them!
Or, maybe I just find them interesting and unusual and figure that you, design lovers, will too. This is that post today and I’ve got some cool furnishings to share.
Wallcovering faced cabinets
We’ve seen texture and pattern created by inlays and wood details, mirrors, etc. But, have you seen wallcovering on the faces of cabinets? I saw a few this time that were new intros and I have to say, I do like this idea.
These two from Gabby have a floral printed grasscloth. It adds interest and has a softer touch.
Sculpture Pedestals
I can’t tell you how many times a pedestal, taller than an end table, is needed for plants or sculpture in a room. It can be just the perfect final touch and I loved seeing these selections.
Bridging Table Over Ottoman
I’ve had one of these custom made for a client, but I love seeing these out in the marketplace now. If you have ottomans you use for a coffee table, you know that just having a tray might not be enough or that sturdy.
I love this because it allows for so much flexibility.
Upholstered Tables
Three showrooms had several versions of these upholstered tables, so that was enough to pique my interest. They give a cozy look and it is something other than wood, metal, glass or stone, for sure.
I’m not sure about maintenance and then spills if it is somewhere where you need to set something down on it. Yes, you could do a glass top on it if it was a side table or console or maybe just be down for extra vaccuming.
Here were three at Alden Home. The leather one is just wrapped but the two fabric ones are definitely upholstered with padding.
These two below were at Century. The consoles have glass tops and you can see the exposed wood framing which is nice. The coffee table is basically fabric that has been direct glued to the table.
Lastly, this little leather wrapped table was seen at Cisco Home. You can see scratching evident here, so I’m not sure I’d do this without a glass top.
More Miscellaneous Furnishings Finds
I spotted some more one off items that I just have to share.
This end-of-bed chest reminds me of my hope chest from many years ago. (Yes, I’m that old. And my boyfriend at the time gave it to me!)
This one could be used for crafts, children’s toys, extra linens, etc. Such great storage to have in a bedroom.
You know I love a good nesting table situation and I’ve featured some before in a past Highpoint Market post. This one, from Fairfield Chair, is a new intro for them and bit different with the way they fit together all on one level instead of sliding underneath.
There’s a lot of flexibility here, for sure!
I’m a puzzler, something about snapping everything into place and connecting things gives me such satisfaction. In my next home, I would love to have a table just for puzzles! This one is from Fairfield Chair.
Love all this lucite goodness from Port 68. Mostly, the brackets like this I’ve seen tend to go pretty traditional, so I love this take. The color really sets them apart.
Most of the items from Schwung Home at Highpoint are found objects, so either vintage, antique or artist made. The blue glazed olive jar with that outrageous lamp shade is so fun and would definitely work in my home if I had an empty console.
I also love this oversized bulbous ceramic container and the way they lit the plant inside.
Lest you think the upholstered tables might not be practical, I give you this fun fur sectional and ottoman from Hooker. :-)
Pajama lounge anyone?
There are smaller booths in the suites area of Market Square and here you can find some unique items of all kinds.
This artist, Phil Luangrath, works in enameled steel with a long family history of creating beautiful objects. Believe me, my photo does not do this fine work justice. You can head to his website here.
He told me he is looking into coming to Round Top. Maybe we will see him there next fall!
Sometimes it is not one object or style that is unique in a showroom, it is the whole package. Such is the case in the Julian Chichester showroom. Always colorful and never dull. :-)

I love keeping an eye out for new and interesting finds when at Highpoint market. Sometimes you come across products you would never dream of finding. I also like to catch emerging trends, just to see if my designer spidey senses are still on point. :-) Check out these finds by clicking through….
