This charming inn in the Texas hill country was a treat for a recent weekend stay. I’m always looking for “design forward” type of places and this one fits the bill. :-) Even better it is a renovated property and I love that even more.
A few weeks ago we spent the weekend in the Texas hill country, to meet up with my daughter and her boyfriend who were there for a wedding. We are also poking around looking for some property for either investment or maybe even ourselves. The prices are still soooo high right now anywhere in that area, but we want to have a good idea of what is out there, when the prices drop. ???? (hahaha)
We booked the Wimberley Inn + Bar and we were surprised when we arrived that this was exactly the same place we stayed some 20+ years ago when we came to this area with our kids!
Back then, it was a motel, not an “inn” and although the grounds and property were very nice and clean, it was a bare bones sort of motel. The owners were a sweet older couple, I think the original owners.
I really liked the place then, as it had good bones, you know? No frills but no bad design either. It was well placed on the property and had plenty of oak trees and vegetation that you would expect in the Texas hill country.
The new owners have remodeled and done some beautiful xeriscape landscaping. They added in the former owner’s house next door as the bar and restaurant with two suites upstairs.
On this 5 acre site they have a nature trail and a large swimming pool. They also have a sister property, the 7A Ranch that accesses the Blanco River that you can use as well, while staying at the inn. This area is all about the rivers, you know!

Have a look at this lovely property and then plan your next weekend jaunt to the Texas hill country.
Restaurant and Bar
The main restaurant room had an artist’s mural in a deep eggplant color. Loved the plant and animal life motif.
The entry to this building was special too with a curly ironwork mirror. I’m normally not a fan of curly ironwork these days (I have faux-Tuscan-design trauma :-), but here it is as just the perfect amount of reference to Texas’ Spanish influence.
Lots of nice color pops and use of paint to liven up this building.
More botanical influence in the bathroom with some bold color.
There was a small library painted all in navy blue with some colorful jewel tone benches and drapery. It reminded me of this navy library in an Austin, TX hotel we stayed in last year.
Here was the path down to the pool area.
Around Wimberley
Wimberley is a small town with lots of charm and the area is full of Texas country to explore. We visited a few of the shops in town.
You can check out the Wimberley Inn + Bar website and book your room right here!
