I’m always up for a show with a fabulous interior. That doesn’t mean a lot of home improvement shows or design competitions or anything like that really.
The kind of tv viewing I like involves a great story filmed within a fabulous interior. Whether the interior is historical, new, fantastical, aged, pristine or homey, I love to see homes with meaning, nuance, and beautiful details.
It’s like a bonus, to get interesting interiors to see while enjoying all the rest.
I’ve shared some of my favorites in the past on this blog (more about those below).
Today, I’m here to share a movie I just watched and it had the grandest, most amazing penthouse with incredible art and furnishings, that you’ve ever seen!
Completely tasteful, with a lovely marriage of old and new.
And the art!!!!
If you love interior design, you will love watching this movie.
The Upside - Movie on Amazon Prime
This movie, The Upside, stars Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart, and Nicole Kidman. Cranston plays a wealthy quadriplegic, who hires Kevin Hart’s character to assist him with daily life.
The setting is mostly in this grand, beautiful NYC penthouse.
Parquet wood floors, white paneled walls, luxurious drapery, high ceilings, spectacular city views, a warm and inviting dark paneled home office filled with books and treasures from a rich life……all these things can be found in this movie’s apartment setting.
Here’s more about the stunning mobile that was created for the bedroom and featured in a scene in the movie.
See these interiors I’ve shared before. I interviewed the set designer for “Bloodline” in one the posts, below!
Ozark Series Is Dropping Soon!
I’m so thrilled that the Netflix series, Ozark, starts on March 27th!!! I don’t know about you, but a good series can’t drop fast enough these days!
More Interior Design Shows To Watch
There are two other shows I’ve enjoyed that are about interior designers working on projects, different in style from what I described above.
These are the more typical design-a-space-in-an-episode-type, but these are really well done and interesting. I highly recommend if you love design!
TV Series - Get A Room
Thom Filicia and Carson Kressley’s show, Get A Room is funny and full of good design at both the higher and lower end budget spectrum. It’s a good one to binge watch! I wish it was coming out sooner, but we’ll see new episodes in October on Bravo.
TV Series - Stay Here
I also loved Stay Here, with Genevieve Gorder, a show about updating Airbnb properties. No news if this one is coming back that I could find, but Season 1 was fun! You can find it on Netflix.
My Fave Series Right Now
I can’t talk about tv series and not mention my favorite (which has nothing really to do with nice or interesting houses), but if want a laugh and want to fall in love with some odd characters, try Schitt’s Creek.
It’s in the last season now, and I it’s great to binge watch! (Hint….it takes more than one season to really appreciate it for all it is, IMO. :-)
And please……share some of your favorites with interesting interiors below!
I’m really obsessed with this house and property after watching the Netflix series, Ozark. I’ve got a few pics I found on the internet and then I’m sharing what I would love to do to in this house, if I owned it.
