Neutrals, texture and global style ruled as design trends at Dallas Market in June.
Dallas is a great, more local market for me to attend. I can drive there, which is nice! Coming just off Highpoint in early June, the showrooms / vendors had lots of their new products recently debuted from that market, on the showroom floors.
This is the Home and Gift Market, so they really have lots of home accessories and lighting, catering more to that crowd of shop owners, with more of those “last layer” type items.
Here are some of the trends I saw, which I feel like are coming in big in home decor, in the coming seasons.

Home Decor Trend - Neutrals with high contrast and warm woods
Of course, there are always colorful displays at markets to capture a designer’s eye, but I noticed lots more neutrals this time. Warm neutrals too, (like beige and cream!) mixed with white, black or dark browns, creating nice contrast.
Warm wood tones like teak and walnut were seen a lot in the displays too.
That neutral mix makes this look feel very layered and complete.

Legends of Asia, my go-to vendor for ginger jars and blue and white, had a display full of neutral looks and I loved it!
Neutral ginger jars with high contrast patterns look amazing massed together. (I want that spotted brown one for me!) Home Decor Trends - Neutrals, Texture and A Global Style [Dallas Market 2021] carlaaston.com

Home Decor Trends - Texture
I loved all the texture seen in everything from furniture, accessories, lighting and even botanical decor.
Keep all your baskets! They’ll be needed if you want to decorate on trend in the next few years. And, the bigger the better!

These seagrass rope-wrapped chests repeat the look of so much of the lighting I saw in various showrooms. More texture, for sure.
Wouldn’t these be fun in a guest bedroom in your coastal getaway home? :-)

So many products in the Arteriors showroom had a natural, textural vibe.

I loved seeing this trend in the The Botanical Mix showroom, where they do amazing designer faux floral arrangements.
These giant dandelions were scattered in showrooms all over market, they had them for sale in The Botanical Mix showroom and they were fab! How I wish I would’ve grabbed some while there!
See what they have to work with? Lots of amazing texture, right?
These type of macrame type lighting fixtures have been around awhile, but they are still going strong.
Home Decor Trends - Global Style with an African Influence
In so many showrooms, I saw a definite African influence. Even as I was posting on Instagram about this, other shoppers at the show were DM-ing me saying they were noting the same thing.
African influence in home decor was seen in lots of ways at market, like on the carvings on the black ceramics in the Global Views showroom. Home Decor Trends - Neutrals, Texture and A Global Style [Dallas Market 2021] carlaaston.com
If you’re not doing beads or African baskets, you are missing out on a really interesting way to bring pattern and a global style to your home decor.
The under side of this pendant, reminiscent of an African basket from Currey and Co, was so striking. Home Decor Trends - Neutrals, Texture and A Global Style [Dallas Market 2021] carlaaston.com
More beads, these colorful with a matte finish, were seen at The Botanical Mix at Dallas Market. These were hung on petrified bamboo, such a unique, textural organic vibe!

The Santa Monica restaurant I featured in this post has a similar vibe of what all these elements speak to.
As a neutral lover, I’m totally on board. (Less beige/cream though and more white for me!)

I really loved attending Lightovation at Dallas Market a week ago and saw 3 definite trends in lighting fixture design that I’m sharing with you today. (You won’t believe the one item that might be on its way back from the 70’s-80’s!)
