Clients Share Tips On How to Successfully Work with an Interior Designer

July 03, 2013 in Business

A Houston designer friend of mind just brought to my attention a great article (linked to the right) about working with a designer. It echoes my sentiments perfectly.

I’ve been sharing these same thoughts here on my blog, but there's something about hearing "voices of authority" reiterate what you've been thinking that confirms and gives you confidence in your opinion.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the article that I'm just dying to share with you. They're said by the clients of celebrity designers, (voices of authority) explaining their experiences and recommendations when working with some of the finest talents in our industry:

Clients of A-List interior designers share the risks & rewards of working w/top-flight talent - http://t.co/XFkB9XoIWr @ELLEDECOR

Client of
Suzanne Rheinstein

“...I made some of my best decisions when I let Suzanne push me."

Client of
Alexa Hampton

"Alexa is an artist. She has a palette and a vision. If you're going to spend a lot of time trying to change that vision, you've lost what you're buying."

Client of
Jamie Drake

“...That's the proof of Jamie—your taste can be totally different from his, or from another of his clients, and his work will be great no matter what."

Client of
Ernest de la Torre

“I thought, 'I don't know about this.' But it's turned out to be everyone's favorite piece, including my own."

Shall I summarize? I think I shall ;-)

Designers are artists.

Step back a bit and let them create something special for you.

Look forward to seeing something you never expected.

Be bold and trust them.
