You know that, as a designer, I can get pillow inserts by the boxes and keep them in supply. I have some in my storage unit right now. :-/
However, sometimes I don’t want to go in bulk and have a bunch of excess lying around (because that isn’t really profitable no matter how cheap you buy them, if they are sitting in your storage).
I typically leave it to my workroom to do the inserts when I have custom pillows made. It behooves me to do a one stop shop with those, after sending them all the fabrics, trim and extras needed for my custom pillows for projects.
I like just letting them do the whole labor thing, turnkey.

Odd size pillow covers can be hard to fill
However, occasionally, I purchase a weird size cover at market, on a whim, like I did last fall at High Point.
It was from a vendor in Market Suites and I really love what I found.
I picked up one for me and these, below, for my daughter’s apartment.
I looked at my pillow insert vendors, and buying in bulk for this size was not feasible. I needed only three and although this is a great finished size for a lumbar pillow, 14 x 22 (substantial, yet it fits chairs nicely), if I did this size custom, I’d likely let my workroom do it anyway.
Best Pillow Inserts
So, since I was Christmas shopping on Amazon, I decided to hunt for down pillow inserts too.
I found this vendor and decided to try them out.
They were perfect! See?
Pillow Insert Size - Important!
Designer Tip >>> I purchased inserts that were 2” bigger than my cover, 16” x 24” pillow inserts.
You know to do that, don’t you, so it fills out the pillow cover nicely and retains its shape.
Easy ordering from Amazon, click and ship….for free with Prime, and fast!
They are well made and look great in the covers. Mine retains its shape, even after my husband has deemed it the perfect lumbar pillow for his leather chair and smashed it into his favorite position.
They come in every size imaginable and square, rectangular, or round shapes.
I highly recommend.
