I just got back from Highpoint Market and my feet still hurt from all that walking, spotting trends and beautiful home furnishings just for you. ;-)
It was a great trip, even though it started with no power in my hotel the first night. A lot of others had it worse, so I’m not complaining. Power was back on early the next morning and I was off to scope things out.
There are so many different types of styles, color combinations, and trends that it can be hard to pick up on some recurring looks, but these are the ones that stood out to me.

Trend #1: Curvy upholstery shapes
I don’t think I’ve seen so many tub chairs in my whole life at one time…..even in the 80’s!
This curvy trend is back with chairs, sofas, and other upholstered pieces. I have to say, these are much more sophisticated and well designed than any I remember. ;-)

Trend #2: Wood tone furniture
Yes, there is still a lot of painted furniture out there, but beautiful wood finishes are coming back. I’m on board with walnut, oak, and all the “brown furniture” trend making a come back.
I love a good mix of finishes in any interior. A little metal inlay is always nice too.

Trend #3: Caramel leather
Move over brown leather.…..caramel is IN!
The warmth and richness this leather color can bring to a room with has always appealed to me. You can see how it is warming up many a showroom in Highpoint.

Trend #4: Quartz, selenite and other minerals
I love seeing natural minerals and elements as home decor and selenite is one of my favorites. I love the icy glass look of this material. It looks gorgeous on the mirrors, pictured below.

Trend #5:
Performance fabrics. The end.
I know we are constantly seeking performance fabrics out for our clients because even the most neat and tidy homeowners want easy-to-clean upholstery. We’re getting more and more choices every day and it is great to see how all the furniture vendors are embracing this trend.
Look at all these colorful, fun performance fabrics from Thibaut.
After all, if you’re going with a white sectional where the family will be lounging with your furry pets, then you are going to need something that will hold up to wear and tear.
