Wood trimwork on ceiling adds detail and quality if done correctly.

Want to add value and style to your home's interior design? Metrie has an answer for that!

January 17, 2018 in Designing, Inspiration, Products, Remodeling, Sponsored Post

Blank walls can be perplexing, right?

Art and gallery walls can do just so much to fill the void. First, you have to have the art or buy it, then, you have to frame everything $$$$, and then hang it!

That process can send some people into a tailspin!

There is a way to get style, design, and add value to your home without installing even one piece of art. (Although I love art!) There IS a way to fill up vast amounts of wall space, add character to a room, and even dress up a big, blank ceiling.

How? With mouldings.

Specifically, mouldings from Metrie.

I visited their booth in my recent KBIS2018 trip on BlogtourKBIS with Modenus and I loved seeing all their options. They were one of the gracious sponsors of our trip and I was delighted to see their offerings so that I could share them with you.

Not only did they have some beautiful spaces created to spark ideas of our own, but they've made the whole process of selecting mouldings and trim easy for us too.

And that is a designer's dream!!

Take a look at some of the beautiful vignettes they had on display and the special way mouldings were used to create the design and mood of these spaces.

The picture frame paneled look here gives this wallcovering a beautiful feature and adds so much class and quality to these walls.

Beautiful ceiling dressed with mouldings adds depth and interest.

These mouldings and panelings were ingeniously put together on this wall to create some beautiful wine storage with a paneled look.

Metrie has a nice selection of beautiful doors. This craftsman style looks great in the wine room.

I love this unusual door style. It's just so nice to do something a bit different and special. This can be done with glass insets or in all wood, as shown.

Loving the high contrast of black and cream on the walls here. No need for additional wall decor when your architectural elements do a fine job of adding interest and detail.

Metrie has made selections easy by grouping their moulding and door products into styles.

The Option M series has several popular style groupings to choose from. These are carefully curated moulding and interior door styles that work well together to create a certain look.

The Farmhouse collection has shiplap and other simple mouldings that work well with this style.

The New Traditional style has a classic, tailored, and sophisticated look.

The Bohemian style has a nice mix of details that lend itself to this eclectic and trendy vibe.

Metrie's Then and Now Finishing Collection blends historic and modern design elements in five beautifully organized groupings. I love the doors that are included in each collection as well. It makes specifying these products so much easier!

Don't want the mess of priming and finishing your new trims or mouldings once installed? Then get them pre-painted and finished!

Metrie has their Metrie Complete series that can eliminate that whole finishing process. It comes in a Polartek white color and you can even get a touch up kit to fill in the little finish nail holes and make a smooth, complete look without a lot of sanding and finishing on site.

Want to see how I've added trimwork and mouldings to my projects to bring some style and gravitas to the spaces I've designed?

Take a look below.

This before and after job site visit shows how mouldings and trimwork added to a front door entry helped tie all the openings together nicely.

In this remodel project, we paneled the front of the bar to give it a more durable surface and add some quality to the space.

BEFORE - The sheetrock front on this bar is plain and can marked up with wear and tear.

AFTER - See how we added paneling on the face of this bar? Much more durable and interesting. Designer: Carla Aston, Photographer: Miro Dvorscak

Mouldings and trimwork were added to this wall of custom closets to suggest a
Chinoiserie style and enhance the cabinetry. See more about the remodel of this master bedroom at this link.

Mouldings were added to this large curved staircase wall to create panels for wallcovering. It added some architectural interest and created a more custom look for this home.

IN PROGRESS - Here we added some mouldings to a grand staircase wall that looked more than a little plain and drab. Carla Aston, Designer

AFTER - With fresh paint and wallcovering added after the mouldings, this wall has a whole new look! Designer: Carla Aston
