I’m sharing an interview today I did recently with one of the contractors I work with on local remodel projects..
I think one of the biggest misunderstandings that occur on a job between between contractor and homeowner, is when it comes to time involved to build the job and scheduling the work.
Of course, the homeowner wants it done fast.
Of course, especially if they are living in the remodel and watching the progress every day, there might be some questions about how the whole job can be done more quickly.
As we head to a new year, when many people are making plans for upcoming projects ahead, this post will be handy. So, tuck it aside, pin to Pinterest, and reference back to it when you are starting construction on your new remodel.
I’m asking the contractor today:
How can a homeowner go into the project best prepared, for a most expeditious process?
Contractor Interview with:
Shaun Bain (L) and Gus Bruna (R) of Curb Appeals, a remodeling company in The Woodlands, TX.
My Questions:
I can see that access to the property and having a homeowner live in the house during a remodel can slow down the work sometimes. Let’s talk about how this how this affects your schedule.
Talk to me about scheduling trades and the value of lumping all of a trades’ work together at one time during a job, instead of having them come multiple times along the way, as soon as one part of the project is ready.
How can a homeowner best prepare and approach a remodel project from the start?

I have worked with many contractors over the years and come back to the same ones over and over, like Shaun and Gus. I want them to be reliable, honest, do quality construction and be there for any call backs or issues that come up, on down the road.

I’m opening back up my Designed-in-a-Click email consultations just after Christmas. I had to take a break with my fractured wrist limiting my ability to type fast. Can’t wait to dig back in there and see what you all are working on!
