I’ve designed quite a few of these:
One teenage girl's bedroom in a showhouse, one for my own daughter, and a few others over the years.
When designing for young people, it’s better to anticipate the person they'll become rather than base your design around their current tastes. Because, as sure as you paint that room fuschia, or do everything Hello Kitty, they’re going to change their minds.
Paint is paint. It's not that big of a deal - it can be changed. But a room devoted to one theme: you'll wind up wanting to toss it in a few months when she changes her mind about what she likes.
Let’s look at some great examples of bedrooms your teenage daugher would LOVE. Bedrooms where...
The big, costly items aren’t so trendy and juvenile.
Where the accents and bedding can be changed out at a moment's notice to reflect a girl’s latest style.
Rooms where there’s a purposefully eclectic mix of things that truly reflect a girl’s personality.
Rooms that are fun, cool, even sweet, but won’t necessitate a total redo if a personality change happens somewhere along the way. :-)
