Why A Cool Pantry Door Is The Secret Ingredient To A Cool Kitchen Design

December 09, 2020 in Decorating, Designing

One thing I can’t wait to do in my kitchen remodel — yes, MY remodel — is…

Install a unique door at the pantry.

I’ve planned it all out…

In my kitchen, my remodel, I’ve relocated my pantry to a wall that’s more prominently situated in my kitchen. And because my kitchen is wide-open to my living room, that door will make a major design statement for the space, and my home, in general.

Although I’m a huge fan of pantries built into cabinetry and I do that often when clients have long, wide pantries, however when there IS depth and space in the floor plan for a walk-in pantry, I do like to work those in. Such is the case here. We’ll be expanding a bit into the garage for this pantry and it will be a walled-in pantry with a proper door.

I think that’s the perfect place to do something unique, something special, something with personality, something that will reflect my style.

I’m so in love with walk-in pantries that have unique doors!

You know… doors that are interesting, distinctive, and have obvious personality and style. A simple color change, or some chalkboard paint, or maybe even a French door with glass that features a unique pattern. Whatever the look may be (of course, as long as it’s well done), I just can’t help but be in love with unique pantry doors! They just speak to me! ;-)

Try a unique pantry door in your kitchen!

Some special pantry doors from some of my projects!

Here’s a barn door that I did on a pantry in a client’s kitchen remodel. They love the chalk paint we did here. :-)

This stained oak pantry door with an etched glass panel, below, was designed for one of my projects. It’s located in the butler’s pantry, with the brick walls, and leads to the food pantry. It looks so much more interesting in here compared to the normal painted doors, elsewhere in the house.

Barn doors work great on pantries that have a wall to slide the door onto. It keeps the door swing out of the pantry and the kitchen.

Here’s how my pantry door turned out!

I painted it a dark, contrasting color and used window film in a pattern I custom designed, to create interest and provide a peek into the bold color inside. The pattern relates to the cabinet door design in the kitchen and the trellis window treatment pattern in the breakfast room.
