This home office was dual function with a daybed and a stand up desk. Unfortunately, it also had some clutter and a disorganized vibe.
Let’s design it to be a happy, functional space to come for work or a welcoming place to host an overnight guest!

Before - Home Office w/ daybed
This question came in from my recent subscriber Q&A at the first of this month. She wanted to know if she was laying out the space well and how to make it work better.
First of all, I want to hide those wires and the clutter as much as possible. I do like the layout with the desk on this side and the bed on the opposite wall.
I recommended she move the desk down the wall some, toward the window, and then put a tall storage piece with doors beside it, so that you see the side of that when you walk in, not the backs of the computers and all the wires.
Then, I wanted to bring this light wood look over to the other side of the room with two end tables on each side of the bed. These are chunky looking, so a nice mod style.
I love introducing a little soft color in the lamps. These are bigger and one on each side will make this space really inviting and make the daybed feel a little like a sofa.
I would also invest in a good quality ergonomic chair. This Aeron chair from Herman Miller is wonderful and I love it in this light finish.
A soft polyprolene rug, some pillows and a big piece of art will repeat the color scheme and add some softness to the room.
And here’s this home office look all put together!
