Hey Designers and Design Bloggers, after my last success with tweaking the destinations for some of my incoming traffic, I got excited to see where else I could do something similar.
I found it!
This item in my outlet shop was ALSO not selling well. It was a source list that had sold well in the past, it had been up since 2015, but after a few years the “farmhouse look” was everywhere, and the popularity of having this info had died do.
It had also been getting lots of traffic from Pinterest, to the tune of over 3400 pageviews in the last month, 94% from Pinterest!
So, in the same spirit of providing a better user experience with a goal of keeping people longer on my site, I had my SEO consultant set up a redirect on that one too.
Just to review, in case you haven’t read this post that outlines these website tweaks I’m doing, figuring out how to keep people on my site longer does these things for me…
helps my ads make more money for me
reduces my bounce rate
sells people on how my site can help them causing them to subscribe and become readers of my blog
All website wins!!!!
So, with that goal in mind, I updated this blogpost that featured the project that I built the Source List for.
I included some affiliate links at the bottom of the post for some of the items, listed the paint color and a few other products sources (one that had been discontinued and that was really the big question people wanted to know).
I also included a subscribe form, something that hadn’t been in that blogpost before.
With a much more well rounded destination (I even better optimized the images for Google), it was ready for the redirect.
Once redirected, this blogpost climbed in my stats.
We redirected on Feb 16th.
The sign ups to my email list on those two blogposts that I’ve updated and have had the redirects sent to, have been more actively acquiring new subscribers to my list.
I leaned in to what was working for me.
I didn’t have to wait till something went viral, I didn’t have to push it all out on social media repeatedly annoying my friends and followers, I didn’t have to start from scratch with anything.
I just examined what was getting the traffic and analyzed how I could improve that destination to get more of what I want that traffic to do. :-)
Lean in to what’s working for you and see what amazing things can happen with very little effort!
Don’t Forget About The Value Of Pinterest For Long Term Website Growth
If you think posting to Pinterest is a waste of time, think again. It may seem like that right after you post, up to a year or so later even.
Over time, however, Pinterest does still work and consistently brings in valuable website traffic that can convert and help you make passive income.
Read this post to see more of what I mean and how Pinterest can work for you.
And even if you aren’t interested in focusing on passive income now…..you might be 2 years from now. Why not start pinning and building that traffic today?
And pin this to Pinterest for me, please, to help me spread this info. :-)
I know you’re gonna love this one. ;-)
