Cute plant wall in the Red Egg Showroom at Highpoint Market

When The Greenery Goes A 'Lil Crazy (...& That's A GOOD Thing ;-)

January 07, 2013 in Decorating

So you’ve put up all the holiday decor and thrown away the dried out crispy greens and Christmas tree...

Right?  You have cleaned up, haven’t you?

Of course you have ;-)

But you miss your greenery now, don't you?

No, not the dried-out crispiness. What you miss is the freshness and life that was newly snipped from the outdoors and brought indoors to brighten an otherwise dark, dreary winter month.

Just because the holidays are over doesn't mean you have to enter the new year without all the "pretty" that some strategically placed indoor plants can bring.

Whoa, . . . stop right there. I know what you're going to say...

"I can't do that. I kill plants."

That's what everyone says. I've heard it all before.

Come on now! It's the new year! The time when you're supposed to feel inspired! To turn over a new leaf!

( In this case, with a new plant ;-)

Check out the extraordinarily fine examples of indoor plant life, below.

How boring would this space be without the green?

A fig in a window is always sweet. Love the moss at the pot.

This large palm has a dramatic effect in a vignette designed by Corey Damen Jenkins at Highpoint Market, showcasing his new furniture line.

Plant walls make a big impact.

Nothing says “cabana” like a big palm tree.

Plant wall? Airplants are cool, but you do have to soak or spray them with water ocassionally. That moss is a great no-maintenance option.

A big palm plant adds so much life and color to this living room vignette.

Can’t handle a live growing plant? How about the next best thing?

Big branches, cut from your garden, maybe your mom’s or a friend’s yard, or check the neighborhood for some recent prunings.

Nothing like an oversized container with greens and branches to add drama to a space!

Magnolia branches fill the void of Christmas greens after the holidays.

What an impact these cuttings have in a big urn on a table.

Can you imagine how monotone and rather dull this interior would be without the life of a green tree branch added in the corner? This room is beautiful, of course, but the contrast of that color and greenery adds so much energy to this space.
