I’ve been into blue pumpkins since 2008 when I did my Showhouse butler’s pantry (seen right.)
I gathered a bunch from the farmer’s market in Dallas when I was on my way back to The Woodlands one afternoon after visiting in Big D.
Although I like a traditional harvest table with oranges, golds, browns, and greens, I’m not really one to do the same thing every year. I did this more formal look below, a few years ago.
More recently, I did this, burlap and blue pumpkins (seen right). This was a fast table, thrown together at the last minute.
I really love that pretty combination. I love the contrast of texture with the gloss of the creamware. Not only that, but these days I’m a fan of simple designand simple entertaining in a rustic chic style. Rustic chic is so perfect for the fall.
So, I’m going to take you on a little shopping trip to make it simple for you to do this combo too.
Here’s our combination:
- Texture - burlap by the yard, wood chargers, flatware (that’s handmade ;-)
- Color - pumpkins, dishes, and napkins all in a soft color to repeat the color of the pumpkins
- Gloss - dishes, glassware
- Sparkle - candlesticks, pitcher, vases
I love the idea of putting a few wheat stalks or brown leaves in those rustic glass vases to the right.
Mixed with the blue pumpkins, our color scheme of the blue/grey and natural will work beautifully! Love the organic shapes of the salt and pepper and the dishes too. Having two sets of those gleaming salt and pepper pebbles at each end of the table will really shine amongst all the texture.
