Do you need some interesting coffee table decor? Then you should try this idea.
When my kids were growing up, I kept a wooden chess board that had been my father’s, out on the coffee table. The pieces were stashed in a pretty wooden box sitting on top. My husband plays chess, and both my kids do now, because that was out and readily available.
My daughter, especially, would plop down and start setting up the board and randomly engage her dad in a game. Not only did it look nice, but it got the family interacting in a great activity that taught them a lifelong skill.
Use a game like a chess set, backgammon game, or even a beautiful box of dominoes to add interest and capture attention on your coffee table.
I’ve also used a leather wrapped backgammon game I have to stack books on top of and decorate my coffee tables with. We’ve had board games in baskets under the coffee table, within arm’s reach, for years.
Nowadays, we’ll play games together via the cell phone. :-/ I’m a Scrabble lover, and I kind of like that I can play without being hunched over a game board for hours.
However, a beautiful game board is always an attraction to me in a room, and I love how it will bring the curiosity of a child to the table.
Check out this special chess set!
This was on offer at Simpson's Galleries at the auction where I set up a vignette of some of their auction items. Isn't it beautiful?
I have some beautiful game boards featured here today, linked below.
These would make lovely decorative additions to any room or coffee table. There’s a wide range of prices on these, the Kelly Wearstler one being the most luxurious!
As with all items in your home, make sure your little ones and animals don’t have access to small parts and pieces, for safety reasons.
beautiful games perfect for coffee table decor!
