About a month ago, I was in a peer group meeting with some of my designer friends, and one of them surprised me by saying:
"Carla . . . I think I saw your name in the comments section of the new Elle Decor."
At first, I didn't totally believe her. But the more I thought about it the more I began to believe it might be possible.
I don't know of another designer out there with my name, so it couldn't have been a different "Carla Aston." And I had been leaving a lot of comments on a lot of design blogs, so maybe they reprinted one of those.
Until I got my hands on a copy of the latest issue, all I could do was spin my wheels over how this could be possible.
Finally, once I got home that day, I checked the mail to see if the new issue had arrived, and it had. I flipped straight to the mailbag section and, sure enough, there it was: a Tweet I had posted that shared my article about Athena Calderone's beautiful home.
Would I say this was the most prestigious media mention I've ever received? No.
Did it earn me any new clients? No.
Was it unexpected? Absolutely!
And I'm certainly appreciative of it! After all, I've never been one to turn down a nice surprise ;-)
