In a room with a fireplace, the fireplace usually becomes the central focal point.
Seating is grouped around it so its features and warmth are best appreciated.
Architecturally, it sets the style for the room.
But what about the kitchen? What serves as its central focal point?
What serves as its hearth?
When I see the stove or cooktop, along with its accompanying hood, I see it, much like the fireplace, as the focal point of the room. It has much the same shape and height as a fireplace, heat emanates from it, and oftentimes it's designed to resemble a fireplace, thereby further establishing the idea that it deserves to command your attention first when entering the area.
Below are some beautiful examples of the hearth of the kitchen. Enjoy ;-)
