It takes guts to do this.
Because painting a built-in cabinet is more time consuming, labor intensive and smelly than painting the walls.
Most times an oil-based paint is used on wood because of it’s durability. But using it may mean you might have to get out of the house for a day or two or else risk a headache and some burned sinuses.
Not only that, but... It takes longer to dry or cure; clean up is messier with paint thinner rather than water; and if you hire someone, it costs more (for all those aforementioned reasons).
So, due the trouble and expense of the process, going with a bold color on your cabinets can be a little scary - which is why there are so many plain, white painted cabinets out there.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with having white cabinets, especially if you love an all white interior, a white kitchen, a coastal style, or a crisp, traditional looking space.
But, if you love color, if your walls are dark, if you want to make your cabinets more of a statement in the room ... then painting them a standout-color can be just the thing to do.
