I live in the suburbs, and I work predominantly out here too. Most of my projects are in the northern part of Houston.
One thing we don’t have much of in houses out here in The Woodlands are walls.
Most of them are open plan. They have high ceilings and lots of windows. And, time and time again, especially when couples are down-sizing, I find that homeowners have more art and wall decor than they do wall space.
Lots of people think art needs to be hung at eye level, and I agree eye level is great. But when you have more art to hang and you've used up all your "eye level" space, where should your next piece be placed?
Yes, hanging art over a door or window is perfectly acceptable. As a matter of fact, I love it.
Not only does it provide extra wall square footage to hang a beloved piece, but it visually extends the height of your door or window. It draws your eye up to appreciate your high ceilings and gives a loftier appearance to the space.
What’s not to love about that!
