The kids will be home for the summer soon!
They’ll be running around outside, frolicking in the grass and all over the neighborhoods on their bikes, not coming in to check in with you till dusk. Right?
(Okay, that was my childhood.)
This day and age, we have a lot more concern about where our children are and who they’re spending their time with. And, well, they’re going to be spending more time at home as a result.
So, if you have young ones or even teenagers who need a space to call their own, and you’d like to have it look nice every once in awhile when you can get in there to pick up, maybe we can find some furnishings that will work.
Sectional Sofa
Usually, I’m not very fond of a sectional sofa in a space because they aren’t very flexible over the long-term. However, in the type of space we’re creating here — where kids might be playing on the floor, where a sleepover might dictate the rolling out of sleeping bags, where seating would be best at the perimeters of the room, and having ample seating for a crowd might come in handy — a sectional sofa is a good thing!
To hide some of those messes that will be made, let’s try this one in a darker color.
Leather Ottoman
Doing it in white, for some brightness. At least it’s leather so it will be more durable.
Rattan Stools
To keep things flexible let’s include some rattan stools. You know sitting on the floor in front of the TV playing video games gets hard on a young boy’s neck; so let’s give them something to sit on while they’re glued to the tube. Plus, it adds some nice texture and storage!
Big Ole Clock
The kids need a clock to know when to turn off the tv, shut down the laptops and go to bed, right?
