We have lots of homes with two story living rooms that sell at all types of price points. It’s a popular way of building around here and, of course, it gives a lofty, open feeling that most people love.
Many times people are perplexed at what to do with such volumes of space. I’ve written about some of these solutions here.
One particular solution is doing long drapery panels, like I used in this project in a two story space:
Recently I’ve been collecting some images of how successful this can be at creating a dramatic interior, celebrating that volume, and involving the upper area of the room with the living space below.
Yes, you'll need lots of fabric. Even with dummy or stationary panels — panels that don’t close — you will need lots of fabric for a two story space. If you keep your fabric selection at a lower price point and do simple rods, you can keep the cost at a more reasonable level.
For the impact it brings, it’s quite worth it. Wouldn't you agree?
