There is nothing more unexpected or dramatic in an interior than an oversized boom arm lamp.
Well, I suppose shouldn't say "nothing ", but I can say that it definitely makes a profound statement. Beyond that, it’s architectural, industrial, and oftentimes completely unnecessary -- and I love that about it. Doing something that's completely unnecessary when something ordinary will do just fine. Doing something just for aesthetics is a perfectly good enough reason for me. ;-)
So let’s say you need some light:
You could use a pendant, a lamp, or even a can light in the ceiling-- (Yawn). But instead you go with a long boom arm lamp, or a dramatic swing arm lamp, or an articulating arm lamp.
And you do this because you are fun. You are dramatic. You have a sense of theatrics and want to draw attention to the ambience you create. You like something a little gutsy and raw. You like the unique and the personal.
You like all these things because they shine a light upon the flattering characteristics your interior reveals about the design of who YOU are.
