We all love a kitchen island these days.
But why? Why are we so attracted to them?
Because it resembles the kitchen table.
It's centered in the middle of the room, where everyone used to gather in the kitchens of yesteryear.
But today, as a result of our more open plan way of living, an island can provide more cabinet space and usefulness that would have otherwise been lining the perimeter of an enclosed room.
I'll say it again: I love a great island.
I’m a fan of a functional island in a kitchen and often feel the layout is enhanced with the addition of an island.
However, sometimes good things are best left alone.
Especially in an enclosed kitchen: a kitchen that’s a separate room in the house; a kitchen that has cabinets all around.
In that instance — at the very least — a center table is perfect.
