Things are looking much better these days for us here in the office.
We are moving along with new projects, in spite of the economy, more of which I will share soon.
I do have some sad-ish news though: Kristen, who has been with me for over three years and did her internship with me, is leaving for another job. :-( It’s a great position, and I am so proud of her. She’ll be doing more commercial work and get to travel! She’ll also be making lots more money, which is always a good thing! Getting a diverse background in design is always good and important in your career development. All work environments help mold you into the designer or business owner you will someday become, so I’m happy she will be getting a different type of work experience under her belt. When you hire young designers, you know they will eventually move on and it’s sad when they go, but you hope you make a good impression and teach them something they can take on their career path that will help them later on.
While we will certainly miss her, I do wish her the best of luck and truly feel like I have a second daughter here who is leaving the nest. She has contributed much to my projects and to how we’ve developed as a business. I appreciate all the effort and time she has put in here, and we look forward to hearing back from her soon!
I have some posts below that I know you will love:
One about the new hex tile craze; a peek at my upstairs bedroom redo; a first look at a steam shower bathroom remodel we’ve designed; some spring decorating tips; and an in-depth look at the advice I’ve given in my Designed-in-a-Click service for a tropical home. Much more is linked below.
I’ve got so much coming up. My daughter is coming this month to photograph some projects for me and a few other local designers; I’ve got more how-to guides in the works; AND I just got back from the Design Bloggers Conference in Atlanta! I saw so many of my blog friends there. It was a great time to connect, become inspired, and learn! I’m totally energized and ready to make this a killer design blog! My winter doldrums are banished forever.
By the way...
Hey former clients! I’m heading to Round Top at the end of the month and will be doing some shopping. If you want me to look for anything in particular for you, let me know. I know your taste, your style, your home, and would love to go on the hunt for a few goodies for you.
Have a beautiful spring month ahead, design lovers! And if you are looking for some design advice, tips, and inspiration…I think we’ve got you covered. :-)
