Like a 90% off Groupon for a full day of spa services, every area of a bathroom should make a bold statement, calling you inside, offering peace, relaxation and solitude to cleanse the mind, body and soul of a day's worth of distractions.
Can any ordinary bath, shower, sink, toilet speak with such serenity? I think not.

Below are a handful of my favorite fixtures that can transform a dull bathroom into a refreshing hideaway...
Today I presented this gorgeous Amalfi tub by Victoria + Albert for a bathroom remodel. It will be turned on a 45 degree angle in the room. A perfect placement for this beautiful sculpture!
Stone Forest has the most incredible sinks. Whether it's stone, bamboo, metal, traditional or more rustic, all their products are just beautiful.
There’s something about a faucet that is so authentically traditional. This beauty is from Rohl, the Cisal Classic. Love this!
Designer Drains, the makers of these beautiful drains, describe their product perfectly: "These drains are like jewelry for your shower!
If you’ve been to a luxury hotel, chances are you’ve showered under one of these. The Speakman shower head is the absolute standard, and it’s so easy to adjust the spray with that lever on the side.
Okay, you may think this is just too utilitarian, but -- for goodness sake -- if you have an open space under your vanity that is visible, get a p-trap and valves in a nice finish to match your faucet. There’s nothing uglier than white pvc and rusty valves exposed after a beautiful bathroom remodel! The one above is from Newport Brass.
Oh, and please... Don’t forget the venting!
The Kohler, Memoirs Stately Comfort Height Toilet is one of my favorites to specify for a traditional bathroom. I love its dressy look. And the Class Five flushing technology is always a good thing.
Comfort height is always preferred by my clients with an elongated bowl. Once you have a comfort height toilet, you’ll never want anything else!
