My daughter told me she sometimes gets condescending winks and smiles when she responds to the question:
What's your major?
(It's fine arts photography. )
You know the look: that "Hmm, good luck with that" look.
Want to know how she responds? Want to know the reply she gives them that puts a prideful, mile-wide smile on her Mother's face?
“Don't you worry about me. I mean, I appreciate your concern -- really I do. -- but I'll be just fine. You see... I'm going to be able to go out and start my own business, work freelance, or contract on a job-by-job basis, because I have skills that are always in-demand and a highly trained eye. I'll forever be able to earn money, whether it's at a full-time job or independently."
That's my girl. That's my independent woman. ;-)
