Got some extra CASH to spend on your home from your tax refund?

First of all, let me just say that I’m hardly an expert at managing finances. :-)

However, when Amanda Gates, Linda Holt and I talked recently in this teleconference about some ways to invest in your home with a lump sum of money that might befall one with a tax refund, I couldn’t help but dream up a few ideas of my own.

Click through to check out some suggestions from 3 interior designers from different parts of the country, who advise and work with clients and home improvements on a daily basis.

DESIGNED Q and A - More Kitchen Backsplash Drama! x 2

These kitchen backsplash dilemmas are just getting too good not to share. I do not make these up…..I swear!

I received these two uploads this week on one of my old blogposts about kitchen backsplashes. I couldn’t help but plunge in and answer, mainly because I love resharing these problems so others can benefit from the information.

Just when I think I’ve seen it all…..there’s another tiny deviation of where to end a kitchen backsplash or how to detail it.

Designed Q and A: How would you "fix" this living room?

That was more or less the question I was asked recently by someone who had just read one of my posts about decorating above the cabinets.

I couldn’t help but dig in. :-)

Black And White Outdoor Living Space For The Win!

I love some high contrast and drama. Even outdoors!

I did a quick e-consult this week and put together some fun pieces for an outdoor living space. Learn what else I was excited to do this past week when you click through......

Those pesky little kitchen windows and how to make them look bigger

I guess you could say this was a backsplash question. That is how it was uploaded into the comment section of one of my posts on backsplashes.

I mean, yes, there is a question about where to end the backsplash, but really, there’s a bigger design situation here, in my opinion. There’s the situation where the top of the cabinets and the top of the kitchen window line up and everything is all in a little row, below the ceiling.

I typically try to remedy this situation whenever I can. Here’s the reason why.

Which paint color for my walls? You can stop worrying about it :-)

I have to say it. It’s getting crazy. You’d think that the whole entire design plan of a house or room was dependent on the wall paint color these days.

A Dining Room Design With California Style For A Young Family

I'm sharing an e-design project that I did recently with you today cause I really love this one and I think it incorporates a lot of what this homeowner wanted without being an exact copy of her inspiration images.

This homeowner was kind enough to allow me to share it here on my blog. Let's take a look.....

Taller Than Normal Coffee Tables Can Be Just The Right Height For Your Living Room

Taller than normal coffee tables seem like a good idea. Our sofas and tables have gotten bigger over time, why not our coffee tables?

The 2" High Slab Backsplash Could Be Your Perfect Kitchen Design Solution

You know those typical 4” high granite backsplashes that many kitchens with a granite countertop have? The ones you automatically get when you order a countertop at Home Depot or Lowe’s or your local granite fabricator?

You know the one that I have BEGGED you NOT to leave on when you go back in later to install a tile backsplash after the fact????

Well, I found an example of an idea I’ve been trying to sell some of my clients who have had a hard time believing this is a thing. Take a look.

5 Tips - How To Make The Color Gray Last Another 10+ Years In Your Home

So, let’s say you’re a little late to gray party, you might even still be on the fence. The last thing you want to do is go gray and then have the trend pendulum swing another direction. If you make the jump to gray, how do make sure it will last another 10+ years?

Amanda Gates and I covered a lot of tips and recs in our teleconference this past week, and although I mentioned some in my previous post, I have still more to share today.
